 Please dont forget that you can still give to recovery
efforts in Haiti.
On January 12, 2010, Haiti was rocked
by a magnitude 7.0 earthquake. Millions have been
affected by the quake. And tens of thousands are
dead.
No doubt youve seen photos of the devastation and
destruction. And it is only human to want to help.
Unfortunately, plenty of scammers and criminals prey on
your good will; you will see fake charities soliciting
donations.
The pleas for help may come via spam messages or
telephone calls. And you can bet the criminals will set
up websites, too.
Before you give to any charity, do your due diligence.
Learn what you can about a charity before giving a dime.
You want to make sure youre helping those in need, not
enriching a criminal.
Charity Navigator
is an excellent site for learning about charities. It
has created a page especially for the Haiti earthquake.
You will see a list of legitimate charities that are
helping in Haiti. You can learn more about an
organization and how it uses funds. All you need do is
click a charity name.
